Originally the tea dance was funded by Help the Aged Community Support Programme and Southampton City Council ,helping older people to remain active, meet or make new friends, at no cost - in order to benefit all local older people, including those with little disposable income.

The Warren Centre is primarily an adult and family learning centre, in the heart of Shirley Warren on the Shirley Warren School site.

Disability Access and parking available.
The weekly tea dance is one of the many regular events run by the Warren Centre of huge benefit to the local community. As with many of the adult education courses and the early years (mother and toddler) groups the cost is kept to a minimum due to the funding the centre works hard to achieve. The Warren Centre is very proud to offer something for everyone across the generations in an area of deprivation, especially during the current recession.
